The IWWF World Waterski Council has today approved the World Open Men Tricks Record 12,590 points by Mexico’s Patricio Font Nelson. The new World Record was achieved behind the award-winning Ski Nautique during the 2ndround of the Florida Cup – WWS Overall Tour Final on 28 October 2022 at Lake Grew, Polk City, Florida USA. The previous and 11-year old World Record 12,570 points has been held by Alexi Zharnasek (BLR) since April 2011.
Since I can remember, my biggest goal has been to break the world record and to open the Guinness book and see myself there. I worked and studied everything about tricking and became obsessed with it, I knew every trick and every run. My dad has taught me everything and has been very patient throughout my time on the water.
I grew up idolizing skiers and got the chance to ski with them, and learned what It takes to get to that level. I get to train with my dad, and Neilly Ross who motivates me to be the best person I can be. She went from being taller and beating me, to being by my side all the time and being in the boat for my first World Record.
I have a team that I call my family and are always there to support me. There are so many people that have been a part of this journey and I want my impact in skiing to motivate the next generation of skiers. This sport is made to push each other and learn from one another.
Thank you Wayne for believing in me. Thank you Nautique for motivating me to be the best. Gracias pa y ma por siempre a mi lado.
